Sacrifice of Self: Nahant and the Civil War $25.00

The product of over a decade of research into Nahant’s vibrant past, this softbound volume captures the story of everyday Americans, the people of Nahant, Massachusetts's smallest town, trying valiantly to deal with the impact of the Civil War and its aftermath. High-quality photographs and in-depth information make this book a wonderful learning tool. Most importantly, this book demonstrates eloquently and universally its theme, not mere storytelling but an example, showing the reader that war is a test of character not only for the soldiers but those at home who care for the veterans and their families during and long after the conflict has ended.

Written by Steven C. Eames, professor of history at Mount Ida College.
